Prompt Competition 2026 - February 2026 - October 2026 (01 Feb 2026)

PROMPT COMP 2026

You've asked, and we've listened! IPPA Prompt Comp is back!

IPPA wants to get you out of your comfort zone. We want you to get creative again. Join us in this fun, (mostly) year long exercise to get you stretching, learning, and creative juices flowing.

Some examples from previous years -

RULES & DETAILS:

Up to 4 images can be entered per month per prompt.
You CANNOT use old images, you must go shoot for the prompt.
Images must be submitted by the 20th of every month to allow for voting. Images submitted after this will be disqualified.
Voting will be the 21 through the end of the month, all done via Facebook
Save images at 2048px on the long side, 10 quality from Photoshop or Lightroom (purely to appease Facebook)

Once you have your images, send them to sherry@keepsakeimagesstudio.com before the deadline. All images submitted will be added to an album on IPPA Facebook page, where they can be voted on by your friends, family, peers, and judging panel.

Monthly winners will get a small prize, and then in November, judges will review all winning images and choose one overall Prompt Comp winner!

Compete as many months as you choose. We want you to have fun with this!

DANCE PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

Join us for a fun and creative evening focused on dance photography! Sponsored by Intermountain Professional Photographers, this free class is designed for photographers who want to learn how to capture movement, emotion, and storytelling with dancers.

The evening will begin with a short live demo covering posing, movement, lighting, and tips for photographing dancers outdoors. After the demo, attendees will have the opportunity to photograph 2–3 dancers throughout the beautiful International Peace Gardens and practice what they’ve learned in a hands-on shooting environment.

Whether you’re new to dance photography or looking to build your portfolio and creativity, this is a great opportunity to learn, shoot, and connect with other photographers.

Bring your camera and get ready to create!

IPPA SCHOLARSHIP BARBECUE

Join us for a fun summer evening supporting future photographers through the Intermountain Professional Photographers Association scholarship program!

IPPA will provide burgers, hot dogs, chips, and water. Please bring a side, salad, or a dessert to share!

The IPPA Scholarship Barbecue is a fundraiser event where all proceeds will go directly toward future scholarships for IPPA members. Enjoy dinner, connect with fellow photographers, and help support education and growth within our photography community.

We’ll also be hosting a gear and book auction/sale during the event. If you have photography gear, books, props, or accessories you’d like to donate or sell, bring them along! Proceeds from sold items can either be split 50/50 with the scholarship fund or fully donated if you choose.

IMAGE COMPETITION 2026

Image Competition 2026 is on August 24! The competition will be in a virtual format you can watch from home, but we'll also have Club 79 at Hearthside Games (details below) and it's going to be a lot of fun!

Judging for Image Comp starts at 10am
We'll also take a lunch break.

A Beginner's Guide to Image Competition

Just what is photo competition and how do I get started in it? How can photo competitions make you a stronger artist? What are the 12 elements of a merit image? What are the rules, tips, and tricks to competing?

That’s what this class is all about.

Sherry will take a deeper dive into the elements that create a merit image, the do’s, the don’ts, and understanding why some images just aren’t merit images. Through IPPA’s local competition you can earn merits toward your photography degree, improve your talent, and create better images for yourself and your clients. Learning these steps can also help you progress to the PPA Merit Image Review and the IPC Photography Competition.
